New Year 's Trip

這星期，我和玟縉的家人一起去旅行。首先我們去摘柳丁，雖然我不會採柳丁，讓柳丁掉到地上，但是我有幫忙洗柳丁，還吃了甜甜的柳丁。第二天，我們來到了著名的仙人掌公園，走進去就看到一大片的仙人掌，園方還送我們一盆仙人掌喔!下午，我們到了綠世界生態園區，走進一看，嚇了一大跳，因為籠子裡居然有一隻黃金蟒，真是恐怖!另外我們還看到一隻大鵜鶘，我還和牠拍照喔!希望有空還可以來這裡走一走。

We have a three-day holiday on 2020 New Year. Bryant and I went to the orchard this weekend. Although I don’t know how to pick oranges, Bryant taught me patiently. I tried many times and eventually succeeded. The oranges taste very sweet and juicy. On Sunday morning, we went to the cactus park. We saw a lot of different types of cactus. I really love Christmas cactus. It looks  very beautiful.

In the afternoon, we went to Green World Ecological Farm. Green World is a large-scale ecological farm combining the natural ecology of animals and plants with leisure, education, and recreation. I saw a big python. It looked scary! I also saw a big pelican. I hope I can come back to visit here again.

今天我和睿謙及他的家人一起去日月潭玩，日月潭景色很漂亮。接著我們來到木生昆蟲博物館，我們在遊戲區玩耍，但大人們怕我們玩得太髒，所以我們就去參觀蝴蝶，可是我們都很害怕蝴蝶，所以就趕快跑出去了。再來我們去看了竹節蟲等其他的昆蟲，睿謙的爸爸一直幫我們拍照，我們度過了愉快的假期。

      Ray and I went to Sun Moon Lake today. Sun Moon Lake is Taiwan's largest lake, which is located in the mountains of Nantou at the geographic center of Taiwan. The name of the lake is inspired by the beauty of the area. The east side of the lake is round, like the sun, while the west side is long and narrow, like a crescent moon.
     After visiting Sun Moon Lake, we went to the insect museum. We saw a lot of insects. I really love stick insects because they're so cute. Ray's father took a lot of pictures for me. I had a very good time on this trip.

這個星期二，大家帶我一起去佛光山戶外教學。車子行駛在高速公路上時，瑀齊陪著我看著沿途的風景。在遂道之前，有一座特別的山，它叫月世界。沒多久，我們就到目的地。接著昱琦就帶我下車，到處走走看看。走過佛光山的大廰之後，我們倆看見了兩側一座座寶塔，正前方有一尊又高又大的大佛，好壯觀呀!昱琦帶著我和老師一起享受自由活動時間，好開心呀!而且、而且老師還為我們一起拍照，留下美好的回憶!

 

 This Tuesday, we had a school field trip to Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum. Naomi and I were on the same team. Fo Guang Shan Temple is the best known Buddhist center in southern Taiwan and is the largest Buddhist monastery in Taiwan. The design of the Buddha Memorial Center is inspired by both an Indian stupa and the Mahabodhi Temple inside the Bodhgaya religious site in India. Above it sits the world’s tallest bronze sitting Buddha statue. In front of the statue is the Way to Buddhahood path flanked by Eight Pagodas on either side, making it perhaps the most magnificent Buddhist landmark in southern Taiwan.

Before arriving at Fo Guang Shan Buddha  museum, we passed some very special terrain called "Moon World", a world-class landform spectacular. This area's distinctive mud-stone is ocean-floor sediment that was raised by tectonic uplift. Following years of erosion by the area's waterways, such as the Erren River, the mudstone landscape took on its current appearance. Moon World is a result of the mudstone features being weakly lithified aquitards.

Naomi and I enjoyed the free time at Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum. We took a group photo and go back to school at 4p.m.

今天是佳鴻的生日，我們一起幫他慶生。然後我們就出門去玩了，一路往南走，我們先去旗山吃臭豆腐，聽說旗山最有名的是香蕉，但我們卻來這裡吃臭豆腐。不過臭豆腐真的很臭，但也很好吃。接著我們來到美濃的原鄉緣逛逛，這裡有美濃有名的油紙傘，很漂亮，跟一般的傘有很大的不同。然後我們就結束了快樂的一天。

     Today is Perter's birthday. We celebrated together. His parents took us to Cishan, which is famous for its bananas. In Cishan, summer is an image of abundance: trees heavy with bananas ripening to sweetness beneath leaves that sway in the gentle breeze, promising the reward of golden richness.

     
     On Cishan's Old Street, the confluence of all things ancient and modern, one can follow a waft of warm banana fragrance through the Baroque-style buildings, and find various banana pastries that make the entire trip worthwhile. We are going to sample a few and show how a fruit, excellent on its own, can be made into something even better. We ate stinky tofu on Cishan old street. Although the stinky tofu has a bad smell, it tastes really delicious. After visiting Cishan, we went to Meinung town in Kaohsiung county.

     Meinong is a small city in southern Taiwan extremely rich in Hakka cultural character and unsophisticated customs, famous for the beauty of its ruins and scenery. We visited Meinung Paper Umbrella Culture Village. We saw different kinds of paper umbrellas. Oil-paper umbrellas were used for daily life (they are really waterproof) and also as wedding gifts amongst the thrifty Hakka. It's a happy day!

今天我和文歆跟著學姐們一去參加傳統技藝比賽，文歆他們參加的項目是婆姐。文歆打扮得很漂亮，一手拿著雨傘，一手拿著扇子，跳著傳統舞蹈，這是我從來沒看過的表演。比賽結束後，文歆的媽媽帶著我們一起去逛市場，好熱鬧的市場，賣著各式各樣的東西。文歆還請我喝好喝的珍珠奶茶喔!

     Today Annie and I went to a Tainan city traditional dance competition. It's a big day for Annie because she has practiced in school for almost two months. She participated in the twelve Pochie Folk Art Performance competition. The key features of the twelve Pochie Folk Art performance are that with fans and umbrellas in their hands, paraders dressed in mandarin gowns and full-face masks move elegantly with the procession of the parade, much different from the commonly seen masculine parades.

They wore masks because in the early days only men played the role. Besides wearing masks, they swung fans, held umbrellas and walked in exaggerated female dance steps to imitate the posture of females. In recent times, as both genders have equal rights in society, undesirable traditional customs have gradually changed, and females have started to participate in parades. The Twelve Pochie Folk Art Performance which was originally performed by males is now performed by females only. 

     

After the competition, we went to a traditional market. Annie's mother bought us pearl milk tea. I hope we will have a good grade in the Tainan city traditional dance competition.

上個周末我跟翊柔全家一起去露營，對我們來說是很難得的機會可以嘗試這樣的度假方式，我跟翊柔一起玩遊戲，一起體驗在野外的生活，因為玩得太開心，我們第二天下午還不小心睡著了，涼爽的天氣真的好適合露營！

     Chole and I went camping last weekend. It's a golden opportunity because we rarely do outdoor activities. Chole and I played together, we experienced outdoor life. We ran and jumped in the field. We played for the whole day! We were so tired that we accidentally fell asleep. It's really nice to go camping in cool weather.

Gymnastics group competition

今天我們在視聽教室進行健康操比賽，我跟威丞坐在一起看，比賽分成一到三年級的第一階段和跟四到六年級的第二階段，我看每一班都努力地練得非常熟練，大家動作都好整齊，如果可以的話我希望兩種我都能學會。

     Today our school held a gymnastics group competition. Gymnastics group competition is a traditional competition in Taiwanese elementary school. The goal of calisthenics (gymnastics group competition) is to improve students' physical fitness. William and I sat together to watch the competition. The competition was divided into two stages. The first stage is from the first grade to third grade, and the second stage is fourth to sixth grade. Every class has practiced very hard. They are synchronized with each other in their performance. I hope I can learn both stages of the calisthenics.
